AgencyThe Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse
The Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse is an online database that went into effect with full compliance on January 6, 2020. This means that employers, medical review officers, substance abuse professionals, and state law enforcement personnel are required to report drug and alcohol test results of commercial truck drivers and those with a commercial learner’s permit to the Clearinghouse.
It is mandatory for employers of commercial truck drivers to register with the Clearinghouse and check the system before hiring new drivers. Employers are also required to ensure that currently employed drivers haven’t been added to the database on an annual basis. If you have not registered yet, go to https://clearinghouse.fmcsa.dot.gov.
If you or one of your commercial truck driver’s is listed in the online database with a violation, there is a return to duty process that must be followed before the commercial truck driver is eligible to drive again.
