Ample evidence indicates that even small amounts of alcohol and drugs can impair driving ability, and the effects of both need to be included in your safety plan. The dangers of using alcohol and drugs are great and all truckers must understand the consequences of using them. Your safety training plan does not need to scare anyone, but it must include the results of using drugs and alcohol while driving.

Trucking is a high-risk profession; as many as 600 truckers are killed on the job every year. The fatalities and injuries involved with trucking stem from vehicle collisions and fuel fires.
