Northland Insurance Accident Do's and Don'ts part 3

DO:
  • Report all accidents, even if you don't believe you are at fault. Even not-at-fault accidents can result in a claim against you that may require a defense. Failing to report the accident promptly can undermine our ability to investigate the claim and defend you.
  • Discuss the accident with the police, your employer, or a Northland Insurance representative.
  • Promptly forward all letters or notices related to an accident or claim directly to Northland Insurance. Include your policy number and the date of loss on all correspondence

DON'T:

  • Don't forget that Department of a Transportation post-accident drug and alcohol testing is required if you are involved in a fatality accident or if you are cited for a moving violation in connection with a bodily injury or tow-away accident. Drug testing is required within 32 hours following the accident. An alcohol test must be performed within two hours, or up to eight hours with a written explanation for why the test could not be consortium administrator for more information.
