DO:
- Report all accidents, even if you don’t believe you are at fault. Even not-at-fault accidents can result in a claim against you that may require a defense. Failing to report the accident promptly can undermine our ability to investigate the claim and defend you.
- Discuss the accident with the police, your employer, or a Northland Insurance representative.
- Promptly forward all letters or notices related to an accident or claim directly to Northland Insurance. Include your policy number and the date of loss on all correspondence
DON’T:
- Don’t forget that Department of a Transportation post-accident drug and alcohol testing is required if you are involved in a fatality accident or if you are cited for a moving violation in connection with a bodily injury or tow-away accident. Drug testing is required within 32 hours following the accident. An alcohol test must be performed within two hours, or up to eight hours with a written explanation for why the test could not be consortium administrator for more information.
